The Federal Executive Council (FEC), chaired by President Bola Tinubu, has approved the dissolution of the Ministry of Niger Delta and the Ministry of Sports Development as part of a major restructuring of federal ministries.
The decision came at Wednesday’s meeting of the council presided over by President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
A newly created Ministry of Regional Development will now oversee regional development commissions, including the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), the North West, South West, and North East Development Commissions, consolidating efforts to promote growth across the regions.
In sports, the National Sports Commission will take over the responsibilities previously handled by the Ministry of Sports Development.
Additionally, the FEC has merged the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy to streamline the management of both sectors.
These decisions were made during the FEC meeting held today in Abuja.
