Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has pledged that the administration of President Bola Tinubu will work diligently to ensure that every district in Abuja is equipped with essential infrastructure.
Wike made this declaration on Wednesday in Abuja during the groundbreaking ceremony for a 3.2-kilometre dual carriageway linking Ahmadu Bello Way to Mabushi District.
This road project will also include the development of additional road networks within the area.
He emphasized that President Tinubu has mandated the provision of infrastructure before the establishment of new districts.
“I want to make it clear today that we will not relent until every district is linked by quality roads. This is crucial because a well-developed road network is what enhances the tranquility of a city,” Wike stated.
“In a city like Abuja, we have a responsibility to continuously provide fundamental infrastructure, including a robust road network, to ensure it remains an exemplary city,” he added.
Wike indicated that the new road network would stimulate economic growth in the district and alleviate the challenges faced by residents navigating the city.
The minister noted that the project has received approval from the Federal Executive Council and reassured the contractor that sufficient budgetary allocations have been made to ensure the project’s completion by May 2025.
He further emphasized that no project initiated during the Tinubu administration would extend beyond its term.
