Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has announced an increase in the minimum wage for the state’s workers to 80,000 Naira, effective immediately.

In a post on his social media page, Mbah expressed his satisfaction with the new wage, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to the welfare of its workforce.

“Today, I’m happy to announce a new minimum wage for workers in Enugu state, reflecting our fidelity to their welfare concerning which we’ve been resolutely committed. We’ve approved the sum of 80,000 Naira to take immediate effect as the new minimum wage in Enugu State,” he stated.

Mbah further explained that this decision stems from his administration’s belief in the importance of labour as a wealth creator. “If well taken care of, [labour] will grow wealth for the state,” he added.
