The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed strong optimism about its prospects of regaining authority in Rivers State.
During an event in Abuja, National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje announced plans to revitalize and reposition the party’s chapter in Rivers to establish a formidable presence in the region.
Ganduje’s remarks followed the official rejoining of Dawari Ibietela George, the 2023 governorship candidate from the Action Alliance (AA), into the APC.
The discussion among the party leaders centred on strengthening the Rivers State chapter, aiming to create a platform that effectively serves both the local populace and the broader nation.
Ganduje emphasized the APC’s dedication to inclusivity and fairness, ensuring that diverse interests are represented within the party.
He hailed George as a significant political figure and expressed confidence in his ability to bolster the party’s standing in the state.
Welcoming George, Ganduje assured him that a solid framework would be established to integrate him and other returning members into the party.
“Rivers State will be entirely under APC control. All members will be treated equally. We are committed to expanding democracy across the nation,” Ganduje declared.
These comments come amid a power struggle between current Governor Sim Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike—now the FCT Minister under the APC administration—over control of the party’s structure within Rivers State.
