Former House of Representatives member Barrister Wumi Ogunlola has come to the defense of President Bola Tinubu, asserting that he should not be held accountable for Nigeria’s current economic struggles.

While speaking in Ado-Ekiti, Ogunlola emphasized that the nation’s economic woes were already significant prior to Tinubu taking office, comparing Nigeria’s condition to being in an “intensive care unit.”

She attributed the ongoing socio-economic challenges to errors made by previous administrations and affirmed that President Tinubu is actively working to address these issues through his strategic reforms.

Ogunlola expressed her faith in Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, calling on Nigerians to allow his administration more time to tackle the difficulties, as the President is committed to implementing long-term solutions.

She acknowledged that resolving all of the country’s problems instantly is unrealistic but reassured that under Tinubu’s leadership, the economic landscape would gradually improve.

She stated, “It’s unfortunate that we find ourselves in this situation. Often, we overlook the foundational issues and focus solely on the structure being built upon them.

“The challenges we are facing originated from somewhere, yet we often fail to recognize that certain individuals initiated these problems, and we are left to bear the consequences.

“The mistakes made by past leaders have led us here, but I have heard the President declare that if he does not perform well by the end of his four-year term, he should be voted out.

“This confidence reflects his awareness of his actions and their future implications,” she concluded.
