According to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, officers led by the Divisional Police Officer of Galadima responded to a distress call, finding that an altercation between driver Emmanuel Ebhohimen and passenger Brandy Nwatu had escalated.
“The quick response from our team helped diffuse a tense situation,” stated FCT Police Command spokesperson DSP Funke Edet. “Our officers immediately intervened, ensuring the victim received medical attention while taking the accused into custody.”
The initial police investigation revealed that the incident began with a dispute over luggage handling, which quickly escalated into a physical confrontation, leaving Ebhohimen with injuries requiring treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Jabi.
Nwatu was subsequently taken into custody but released on bail with an instruction to return for further investigation on October 28, 2024.
Expressing gratitude to residents for their vigilance, Edet remarked, “This incident underscores the importance of the public’s role in maintaining safety. We encourage Abuja residents to continue using our dedicated channels to report emergencies.”
