Manchester United will travel to Spurs in the Carabao Cup quarter finals after a heavy defeat to Leicester City at Old Trafford.
Both League Champions Manchester City and Chelsea were eliminated by Tottenham Hotspurs and Newcastle respectively.
Manchester United interim boss Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s first game in charge produced five goals for the Red Devils after taking over from Erik Ten Hag who lost his job after the defeat to West Ham.
Nistelrooy’s first assignment was to book a quarter final appt for the 2023 Carabao Cup champions and he achieved that in grand style after both Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes scored braces to compliment Alejandro Gernacho’s strike.
Despite the club negotiating for a permanent replacement to Erik Ten Hag, Nistelrooy showed a class of himself in his first game, beating Leicester City 5-2 at Old Trafford to set up Spurs clash.
The quarter finals will see Newcastle United who eliminated Chelsea play host to Brentford at St. James Park, while Liverpool will travel to St. Mary’s to face Southampton as Arsenal host Palace at the Emirates with United facing Spurs.
Those fixtures are scheduled to take place on 17th and 18th of December as they prepare to battle for a place in the semi finals.
