Premier League giants Manchester United has on Friday appointed 39-year-old Sporting Lisbon head coach Ruben Amorim as the new manager until the summer of 2027.

The Portuguese tactician has signed a three-year contract with the Old Trafford club to replace outgoing manager Erik Ten Hag who was sacked following a disastrous loss to West Ham.

Ten Hag faced the axe after failing to establish a proficient team at Old Trafford despite having the full backing of the new Board.

The former Ajax man was seen dropping points after points as the team struggled to score goals or win games.

His assistant, Ruud Van Nistelrooy took charge of the team on an Interim basis and his first game against Leicester City saw United playing a fantastic game, winning 5-2 at Old Trafford while progressing to the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup.

Amorim will join Manchester United on November 11 after the international break and will appear in his first dugout as a Man United coach against Ipswich Town in the Premier League on November 24.

The agreement was reached for the Portuguese to join United after the Premier League side agreed to pay an €11 million compensation fee to his current club Sporting CP.

Amorim is known to be a lover of possessive football who plays three at the back with a width in both attack and defence as all eyes will be on his first starting Lineup when he assumes duty.

He will now become only the tenth manager to stand in the United dugout since the departure of the famous Sir Alex Ferguson.
