Outgoing Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has appealed to the citizens of Edo to extend the same level of cooperation and support to the incoming government led by Governor-elect Senator Monday Okpebholo.
Obaseki made this appeal during a thanksgiving service and dedication ceremony for the newly renovated Government House Chapel.
While addressing the gathering, Obaseki expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the unwavering support he received from the people throughout his administration, highlighting the significance of maintaining continuity for the state’s advancement.
“Even though I am stepping down as governor, my connection to Edo State remains strong,” he assured attendees, reaffirming his dedication to the state’s progress.
With Obaseki’s tenure coming to an end, he is set to hand over to Okpebholo, who is preparing to take office.
During the service, Obaseki urged the community to collaborate closely with the new administration.
“As the governor and a father figure to the state, I have been invited to share a message, and my message is this: dear heavenly Father, we come before you with grateful hearts, thanking you for the blessings and progress in Edo State.
“As we transition to a new administration, I implore each of you, in the name of God, to extend the same level of support and cooperation you showed my administration to the incoming one.
“Let us continue to unite in our efforts toward a brighter future for Edo State and Nigeria, for we have no other place to call home.”
He indicated that the chapel being dedicated would serve as a lasting testament to the enduring spirit of the Edo people and the positive achievements yet to come.
While expressing his gratitude to God for the support and provisions he received during his eight years in office, he also thanked the community for their prayers and commitment to the state’s progress.
“To the people of Edo State, I sincerely appreciate your partnership and cooperation throughout my tenure. Your trust, encouragement, and passion have fueled our drive to execute impactful projects and initiatives that have transformed our state,” he stated.
