Remo Stars football club has assumed leaders of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) after match day ten following their victory over Lobi Stars.
The Ikenne-based side recorded a 1-0 win over Lobi Stars to level on point with Rivers United who fell 2-0 to Ikorodu City.
Former Akwa United man Michael Ibe scored the only goal for Remo Stars after finding the net in the 47th minute to score what later became the only goal of the match.
On the other hand, Akwa United’s struggle in the league continues despite recording a slim 2-1 win over Kwara United.
Played at the famous Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, the former league Champions needed a 60th-minute penalty from Endurance Eddy to hand them a 2-1 win over the visitors.
Despite the win, Akwa United remains 19th on the log with just nine points from ten games after recording just two wins with three draws, losing five games so far this campaign.
League leaders Remo Stars will have a difficult test in their next game as they will travel to Aba to play League giants Enyimba Football Club while Rivers United will play host to Bayelsa United on match day eleven.
