Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has disclosed that the ongoing political issues within the State primarily revolves around the quest for control over its resources.

In this context, he has reaffirmed his dedication to employing the state’s resources responsibly for the enhancement of the welfare and interests of the populace.

Governor Fubara emphasized  these points while addressing attendees at the Omega Power Ministries (OPM) Worldwide during a dual celebration marking the 51st birthday of the General Overseer, Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, alongside the church’s 18th anniversary, held at their headquarters in Mbodo, Aluu, near Port Harcourt on Sunday.

According to a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, the Governor appealed for the congregation’s continued prayers to ensure that his administration remains steadfast in its governance objectives for the State.

He stated, “This crisis has a specific cause, which is the control of the resources of Rivers State. The resources of Rivers State rightfully belong to the citizens, and we are committed to ensuring their judicious application for the advancement of our State.”

He further urged, “What you owe us is simply this: Keep us in your prayers. It is crucial that we do not lose our focus, as we are aware that adversities often seek to disrupt governance. Your prayers are vital for the interests of the people, and I firmly believe that with your support, we will remain on course to achieve our governance goals in Rivers State.”

The Governor praised Apostle Chinyere for his philanthropic efforts and his significant contributions to societal welfare. Acknowledging the poor state of public services he encountered upon taking office, Governor Fubara commended the General Overseer’s initiatives in education, aimed at equipping children with essential vocational and technical skills for future employment opportunities.

He remarked, “I wish to commend your endeavors. Life is fundamentally about giving rather than taking. Those who focus solely on receiving will not progress far in life. For all that you have done for humanity, may God continue to empower you. While the impact of your work may not be fully recognized by you, we, as external observers, appreciate your contributions.”

The Governor expressed gratitude to Apostle Chinyere and the congregation for their unwavering support towards his administration, particularly emphasizing the significance of their prayers in sustaining the government amidst various challenges. He encouraged them to persist in their prayers for the advancement of Rivers State and the welfare of humanity.

In a gesture of support, the Governor announced a donation of N200 million to the church to aid its ongoing infrastructure development initiatives.

“Congratulations to this church, as the success of the General Overseer’s endeavors hinges on the support from the congregation. I am delighted to be present, particularly to celebrate this milestone with him. He has consistently been a staunch ally of our mission, maintaining his faith in our prayers from the outset of this journey,” he noted.

“I am confident that the prayers offered by him and the church have been instrumental in our resilience amidst adversity. There is no limit to what God can achieve, and I believe that through your continued prayers, we will surmount current challenges.”

Recognizing the ambition behind the establishment of a television station, the Governor remarked, “I am aware that a facility for your TV station is underway, and I envision it as a place where guests will be accommodated during events. On behalf of the government and the people of Rivers State, I am pleased to donate N200 million to support this project.”

“Power has infused my own power into your endeavors. Thus, I seek more strength—more strength for the advancement of Rivers State and the protection of its people. God will bless you for your prayers, and I assure you that we will not let you down,” concluded the Governor.
