The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has asserted that President Bola Tinubu is dedicated to improving the living conditions of Nigerians.

During an Interview, held in Kaduna, Mr. Idris addressed the difficulties arising from the removal of the fuel subsidy, which he argued primarily benefited a select few at the expense of the broader population.

He expressed confidence in the stabilization of the economy, emphasizing that no government aims for regression during its tenure.

Mr. Idris underscored that the responsibility for addressing the nation’s challenges does not rest solely with the National Assembly, elected officials, or the executive branch, but requires the collective effort of all Nigerians.

He highlighted President Tinubu’s recent directive to ministers to reduce governance expenses by limiting the number of official vehicles and personnel during official engagements.

“President Tinubu is advocating for a departure from traditional practices in Nigeria,” Mr. Idris stated. “In our Federal Executive Council (FEC) meetings, the emphasis is consistently on eliminating unnecessary expenditures associated with governance.”

He noted that the President issued a circular aimed at regulating travel costs and vehicle usage, asserting that such measures, though seemingly minor, hold significant importance.

Additionally, Mr. Idris mentioned that the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has been rebranded as the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security to address agricultural challenges comprehensively.

He also addressed the ongoing security concerns, affirming that President Tinubu is actively tackling these issues, which have persisted prior to his administration. The federal government is reportedly enhancing the welfare of security personnel and acquiring necessary resources to bolster the nation’s security framework. The proposal for state police is still under consideration by the President.

Regarding the recent power outages in northern states, the minister clarified that these incidents were not deliberate or planned by the public. “The President is diligently working towards sustainable solutions to the frequent collapses of the national power grid,” he stated.

He further mentioned that the AKK Gas Pipeline Project is nearing completion and is expected to revitalize industries in the North.

Mr. Idris encouraged citizens to utilize social media platforms to promote a positive image of the country.
