Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, who serves as the patron of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)-Nigeria Business Council, has announced his intention to remain actively involved with the organization, buoyed by a positive report released just two years after its establishment.
The Council was created to foster a supportive environment for investment and collaboration between Nigeria and the DRC.
Speaking at a stakeholders meeting in Lagos over the weekend, Obasanjo expressed his enthusiasm for the encouraging reports from various sectors, noting that there is still potential for further development.
In a statement released by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, Obasanjo remarked, “After the progress I witnessed this evening, I’m committed to staying with this organization. While we are making strides, there remains ample opportunity for even greater advancement.”
Dr. Nteranya Sanginga, the Council’s President, highlighted that their collaborative efforts could bolster Africa’s capital if they continue to work together effectively.
In a goodwill address, DRC President Felix Tshisekedi, represented by Vice-Prime Minister Daniel Samba, emphasized the President’s vested interest in creating a favorable investment climate for investors from both nations.
