Darlington Nwauju, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, has lauded the introduction of Phase 1 of the contactless passport application system, describing it as a significant achievement that underscores the role of innovation and the commitment of the Ministry of Interior, led by Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

This first phase aims to address the passport renewal needs of Nigerians living abroad, with a particular focus on those in Canada.

Additionally, preparations are in progress for future phases, which are expected to be launched by December 1, 2024.

In his capacity as the Publicity Secretary of the APC in Rivers State, Nwauju noted that this initiative illustrates the transformative power of e-governance in enhancing government services, fostering transparency, and encouraging increased accountability and efficiency.

He also pointed out that the key challenges hindering effective e-governance in Nigeria have been insufficient political will and the absence of strong organizational frameworks.
