The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has accused fuel marketers of artificially inflating petrol prices, claiming that the current pump price far exceeds the actual market value.

The NLC argues that Nigerians are being exploited, with widespread suffering and hunger exacerbated by government policies, which are pushing many citizens into poverty.

In a statement issued after its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, the NLC decried the severe economic hardships facing the nation and demanded an immediate review of what it termed “anti-people” policies.

Additionally, the NLC announced that state councils yet to implement the new minimum wage will initiate an indefinite strike on December 1, 2024, in protest against unresolved labor issues.

This call highlights the NLC’s growing concerns over the economic strain on Nigerians and its determination to hold both fuel marketers and the government accountable for the well-being of the public.
