Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has praised President Bola Tinubu for advancing good governance through his Renewed Hope Agenda.

During an inspection of the ongoing construction of the five-kilometer Saburi-Dei Dei road, which was awarded to Lubrik Construction Company in February, Wike made these remarks in Abuja on Tuesday.

He emphasized that Tinubu had made commitments to address the needs of the citizens, and noted that these promises are being realized, thereby reigniting the hope of Nigerians.

“Good governance encompasses the provision of essential infrastructure, transparency, accountability, security, and access to quality health and education for the populace,” he explained. “All our efforts in the FCT are part of this framework of good governance.”

Wike expressed satisfaction with the positive response from the community regarding the ongoing initiatives by the Tinubu administration aimed at enhancing their quality of life.

He assured that the residents of Saburi and Dei Dei would experience increased happiness upon the completion of the road project, which is slated for December.

“We are thrilled that the community recognizes and values our efforts. Their happiness is paramount to us,” he stated.

The minister also revealed that the procurement process for the construction of the 17-kilometer Life Camp-Dei Dei road is currently 80% complete. He mentioned that the FCT Administration is waiting for the certificate of no objection from the Bureau for Public Procurement.

“Once we receive that, we will seek approval from the Federal Executive Council and proceed accordingly,” he added.

Regarding the crackdown on scavengers and individuals posing as beggars, Wike informed that a coordinated security team is tirelessly working to arrest and prosecute those engaging in such activities.

He noted that security personnel are actively clearing the streets of individuals who falsely claim to be beggars.

“It’s a challenging task, but we are determined to see it through,” the minister concluded.
