The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced that it will host the grand finale of its campaign for the Ondo State governorship election tomorrow, Wednesday. This information was shared in a statement on Tuesday by Felix Morka, the party’s National Publicity Secretary.

As a reminder, the gubernatorial election in Ondo State is scheduled for Saturday, November 16, 2024.

According to the APC spokesman, the campaign finale will take place at 10 am at the MKO Abiola Democracy Park located in Akure, Ondo State.

In a related development, at least eight political parties are poised to join forces with both the APC and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in a strategic effort to enhance their chances in the forthcoming governorship election.

These smaller parties reportedly reached agreements over the weekend to support the two dominant parties.

As part of this collaboration, the leadership of these smaller parties will direct their supporters to vote for either the APC or the PDP candidate.

Formal announcements regarding these alignments are anticipated within the next 72 hours, with party leaders actively mobilizing their constituents in preparation for the election.

One source revealed, “Approximately eight smaller parties are looking to partner with the larger parties. These alliances are motivated by the potential financial benefits of the collaboration.

“There have been ongoing discussions between the leadership of the APC and the PDP, and some agreements were finalized over the weekend. By Friday, we expect all parties to declare their affiliations.”

Another insider commented, “It is evident that candidates from certain parties are prepared to withdraw in favor of either Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa (APC candidate) or Agboola Ajayi of the PDP, as arrangements were concluded recently. However, the specifics of their agreements remain undisclosed, but a merger is imminent before Friday.”

Additionally, a source within the APC confirmed that around five governorship candidates are set to abandon their former parties to align with the ruling party.
