President Bola Tinubu has insisted that his administration is steering Nigeria away from the brink of economic collapse, emphasizing that the nation is once again moving towards growth and development through his proactive reforms.
During the inauguration ceremony for Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, and his Deputy, Dennis Idahosa, held on Tuesday in Benin City, the president acknowledged the significant challenges facing the country prior to his administration. He expressed a firm commitment to implementing aggressive reforms aimed at addressing these issues.
Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu highlighted Edo State’s pivotal role in the progress achieved under his leadership, commending the state’s elected officials for their dedication to enhancing the lives of their constituents.
“When we assumed office, we recognized the urgency of revitalizing our economy. We called for substantial reforms in fiscal and monetary policies to ensure peace and stability within the nation. We are resolutely pursuing these reforms to establish a foundation for future opportunities,” he stated.
He expressed pride in the integrity of the leaders chosen by Edo State, stating, “I am pleased that Edo has elected individuals committed to the welfare of the people.”
Tinubu emphasized that the path ahead transcends political affiliations and called for leaders who are devoted to serving the populace. He asserted that no party has better managed unity and purpose among the people than the APC during its tenure in power.
“Edo State is crucial to our progress, having elected a leader who understands the concerns and aspirations of the populace, from healthcare and education to infrastructure development that brings hope to every community,” he remarked.
“A divided house cannot stand, and the APC’s commitment to governance that benefits the people assures our readiness to lead effectively.”
He also noted the necessity for leaders to remain committed to overcoming challenges and fulfilling their promises to the electorate. “The elections are behind us, and any environment that fosters a fascist mentality must be dismantled immediately. While some may seek to disrupt peace following the expression of the people’s will, we must stand united.”
“I stand before you today with confidence, knowing we have navigated through difficult times as a nation. We have pulled back from the edge of economic disaster and are now stepping into a phase of growth,” Tinubu concluded.
Reflecting on the inauguration, he stated, “We are gathered here today because you have voiced your desires clearly and decisively. You have articulated the future you envision for this great state and have selected the leaders to guide this journey.”
“This atmosphere of joy resonates with the voice of the people, and this strong call for a brighter future is the essence of democracy. The will of the people is paramount, and no obstacle is formidable enough to hinder those who have chosen their leaders from a multitude of options.”
