Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and the Labour Party’s presidential candidate during the 2023 elections, has made a generous philanthropic gesture by donating N60 million to educational institutions, specifically targeting Peter University and the School of Nursing in Adazi-Nnukwu, Anambra State.
The donation comprises N50 million allocated for Peter University and N10 million for the School of Nursing.
During the cheque presentation ceremony, Obi expressed that this initiative underscores his steadfast commitment to improving the educational landscape across Nigeria. He highlighted the vital importance of quality education in fostering national development and encouraged students to pursue academic excellence, emphasizing that investing in education equates to investing in a brighter future.
Obi described education as the “most powerful instrument for societal advancement” and motivated students to consider themselves as future leaders capable of driving positive change within their communities.
At the College of Nursing Sciences in Adazi-Nnukwu, he reinforced his promise to support institutions that nurture skills, professionalism, and ethical values. Addressing the trend of skilled nurses migrating abroad for better opportunities, he urged those who choose to leave to contemplate returning to Nigeria once necessary reforms are implemented.
He assured attendees that he and others who share his vision are committed to this goal, believing that their contributions will ultimately enhance the nation’s progress.
