The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has released a statement to show solidarity to one of its goalkeepers Stanley Nwabali who was announced to have lost his father in the eve of their African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against the cheetahs of Benin Republic.

Nwabali who was the man between the sticks when Nigeria played against Benin on Thursday made the announcement by posting on his social media account, “rest on Daddy”.

The Chippers United Goalkeeper after helping Nigeria qualify to the 2025 edition of the African Cup of Nations and the entire football community in Nigeria and beyond were mourning for the loss of Nwabali’s father.

The NFF in their official X handle wrote, “Our thoughts and prayers are with @NGSuperEagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali who lost his Father earlier today.

“May his soul rest in peace.” It was added.
