The Akwa Ibom State Government has announced the restoration of power supply from the National grid after days of blackout in the state.
According to the release signed by the Honourable Commissioner for Information, Comrade Ini Ememobong, Power has returned to the State after issues resulting in the blackout have been settled.
“The public is hereby notified that power supply from the National grid has been restored to Akwa Ibom State following the rectification of the fault along the 123KV Aloaji-Itu transmission line.” The release read.
“This fault which was the cause of the blackout witnessed recently, was due to damage suffered by a section of the transmission line.
“Following the directives of the Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, the Ministry of Power and the Akwa Ibom investment Corporation, interfaced with the transmission company of Nigeria and other stakeholders within the industry to speedily restore the transmission line.
“The State Government expressed her appreciation to all and collaborators who worked to achieve the restoration of Power while regretting the inconveniences that the Akwa Ibom people have suffered because of this Power failure.
“The ministry of power will as part of its oversight mandate undertake a comprehensive audit of Ibom Power, to determine their liabilities to their strategic stakeholder like Access Bank, Savannah Energy (Accugas), Afrexim Bank, etc.
“Governor Eno remains committed to improving the State’s power infrastructure through comprehensive, sustainable solutions.
“The administration will continue to work with industry partners to enhance service reliability for all Akwa Ibom residents.” The release said.
