The Lagos State Government has urged residents to prioritize safety as the year draws to a close, emphasizing the need for heightened vigilance amid the prevailing dry weather conditions.

Director General of the Lagos State Safety Commission (LSC), Mr. Lanre Mojola, issued the advisory over the weekend while addressing journalists.

He highlighted the health and environmental risks posed by the excessive heat and dry conditions, which can lead to symptoms such as tiredness, high fever, blurred vision, and dehydration.

Mr. Mojola specifically cautioned residents against storing flammable substances, such as fuel, in homes, stalls, or shops to prevent fire outbreaks.

He also discouraged smoking in public places, warning of potential fatal consequences.

“Once there is life, there is hope for a better tomorrow. We must remain vigilant and proactive about safety,” he said.

The LSC boss called on Lagosians to collaborate with the government in ensuring their homes, workplaces, and environments are safe and free from hazards.

He stressed that adherence to safety guidelines would help create a safer and healthier community for all.
