Dr. Tosin Odeyemi, the Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Osun State, has contended that the All Progressives Congress (APC) did not achieve a legitimate victory in the 2024 Ondo State governorship election.

In a statement, Odeyemi cautioned the APC and its National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, against becoming complacent after their win in Ondo.

His comments came in response to Ganduje’s declaration that the APC aims to seize control of Osun, Oyo, and the broader South-West region in future elections, asserting that Osun is distinctly different from Ondo.

Odeyemi criticized Ganduje’s remarks as reckless and inappropriate for someone in his position, especially given the ongoing economic difficulties faced by Nigerians under the APC administration.

He accused the APC of employing vote-buying strategies, which he believes stem from a systematic effort to keep the populace impoverished.

Furthermore, he challenged Ganduje to substantiate the APC’s popularity in Kano State, ridiculing the APC leader for the NNPP’s success in his territory.

“Dr. Ganduje should have displayed better communication skills appropriate for his role. Given the economic troubles that Nigerians are grappling with, who would genuinely support the APC? He should not be misled by the events in Ondo State,” Odeyemi asserted.

He urged all political actors to honour the will of the electorate, emphasizing that the people of Osun are politically astute and will not accept electoral fraud or intimidation.

“The residents of Osun are both wise and peace-loving. Each political party must allow voters to make their choices freely. Ganduje must avoid turning the Southwest into a battleground. Words carry significance, and we must ensure that the 2026 elections are free of conflict in Osun,” he concluded.
