Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has emphasized the need for greater productivity from employees within the FCT Administration.

His remarks were made in light of the recent rollout of the N70,000 minimum wage in the Federal Capital Territory.

Wike made this statement in Abuja while inspecting the construction progress of the access road to the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal.

Previously, Wike’s endorsement for the new minimum wage was highlighted in an announcement by Mrs. Grace Adayilo, the acting Head of Civil Service for the FCT.

The minister clarified that this wage increase is part of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at enhancing the welfare of workers.

“In this context, we have also adopted the N70,000 minimum wage and have approved the payment of the agreed arrears in conjunction with the labor unions,” he stated.

Wike expressed his expectation that the new wage would serve as a motivation for employees to deepen their commitment towards achieving necessary developments in the capital.

“Therefore, workers should not adopt a mindset of complacency simply because they have received payment. It signifies that we expect more effort from you,” the minister concluded.
