The Akwa Ibom State government, through the ministry of education has on Saturday suspended a secondary school principal for a poor feeding program to students.
According to a release signed by the honorable commissioner for education Mrs Idongesit Etiebet, the principal of the Presbyterian science college, Ididep, Ibiono Ibom Local Government has them suspended with immediate effect.
The suspension according to the honorable commissioner is pending the outcome of the investigation by the committee setup for the purpose.
According to the honorable commissioner, a committee has been set up to investigate the boarding facilities of all the 26 boarding government schools in the state including the science college.
The Principal, Dr. Nse Sunday Umoh will remain suspended until the result of the investigations by the committee as they are to look into hostels, dining halls, recreation areas, menus, kitchens and sanitary facilities.
The group of the investigation is made up of the permanent secretaries of the ministry and the state secondary education board.
The Commissioner however noted that the investigation was triggered by a very disturbing video that went viral showing students being fed with unpalatable and innutritious meals at the Presbyterian science college and has also urged the general public to remain patient while the investigation remains ongoing.
