Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to revamping the state’s security framework.

Following an emergency security council meeting prompted by recent assaults on security personnel, Governor Otti announced that decisive action would be taken to eliminate criminal elements within the state.

In response to the alarming rise in violent attacks targeting security forces, the governor stated, “We convened to examine our security architecture, and I am pleased to report that we are determined to enhance it to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.”

He added, “We have resolved to root out all criminal elements from their hiding places. We want to assure you that we have the capability to address this issue effectively, with the full support of our security agencies.”

Otti emphasized the need to intensify efforts in vulnerable areas prone to attacks. He issued a stern warning to criminals, declaring that Abia would no longer be a safe haven for them. “Let it be known that if you are a criminal in Abia State—whether you identify as a bandit, kidnapper, or anything else—this territory will not be safe for you. That is our warning,” he stated.

The governor clarified that the recent incidents should not be seen as indicative of the overall security situation in Abia. He reassured residents and visitors alike that the government is fully equipped to tackle any security challenges that arise.

Otti urged citizens not to live in fear and promised that the administration would take all necessary measures to protect the lives and property of everyone in Abia State.

He expressed his condolences to the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police for the loss of their personnel in the Ekenobizi, Ubakala, and Ohafia regions, affirming that such tragedies would not be tolerated again and revealing his plans to visit the families of the fallen officers.
