At a press conference held in Lagos to celebrate his 79th birthday, former Deputy National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, issued a stark warning to the party’s leadership.

He cautioned that without decisive action, the PDP risks being relegated to a footnote in history before the 2027 general elections.

Emphasizing the importance of unity, Chief George stated that the opposition party is facing significant challenges due to the self-serving motives of a select few who are seemingly willing to sell the party to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He declared, “As a dedicated member of the PDP who has been with the party since its inception, I find today to be an important moment to discuss the future of our organization.

“While we have elders convening on November 28 in Abuja to determine our path forward, I feel compelled to voice my concerns openly: our party is not in a good place. We are losing our direction.”

George lamented that the turmoil within the party exacerbates the already dire socio-economic conditions facing the nation. He raised the alarm, stating that the PDP stands on the brink of a severe crisis if urgent and critical issues are not addressed.

“For the PDP to liberate Nigerians from the oppressive grip of the APC in 2027, these challenges must be prioritized during our upcoming NEC meeting in Abuja,” he urged.

Believing that the PDP is the only party capable of steering Nigeria towards progress, George stressed the need for the party to capitalize on opportunities for national advancement.

He warned against allowing disloyal members to exploit the party for personal gain, affirming that disloyalty is a serious violation.
