Reno Omokri, a controversial former aide to the presidency, claimed on Tuesday that Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate for the 2023 elections, is grieving over the arrest of Simon Ekpa, a factional leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
In a post on X, Omokri pointed out Obi’s silence following the Finnish police’s arrest of Ekpa, who is accused of inciting violence through his social media platforms.
He noted that while Obi has been outspoken about Nigeria’s economic issues, he has remained quiet since reports emerged regarding the nation’s GDP growth rate.
Omokri stated, “The GDP growth rate has risen to 3.46%, and unemployment has decreased to 4.3%. Furthermore, JBS has announced a $2.5 billion investment in Nigeria, with non-oil revenue reaching a remarkable N10.33 trillion in the first eight months of 2024. Additionally, net foreign exchange inflow into Nigeria’s economy surged by 67.8%, increasing from $16.44 billion in 2023 to $27.6 billion in the first half of 2024.”
“But Peter Obi is silent. Perhaps he is mourning the arrest of Simon Ekpa by the Finnish government!” he added.
