On Sunday, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State announced that Chief Paulinus Akpeki has been appointed as the Acting State Chairman of the party.
The APC clarified that Akpeki will serve in this capacity in accordance with Article 14:2(iii) of the APC Constitution, during the absence of the State Chairman.
The announcement comes as the current State Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, is on medical leave and has communicated this to the State Working Committee (SWC) through a formal letter.
This information was disclosed in a statement by Delta APC Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo Esq.
According to Onojeghuo, the SWC reviewed the letter and subsequently voted to endorse Chief Paulinus Akpeki as the Acting State Chairman. Barr. Francis Obigbor, the Deputy State Chairman, was present during the discussions.
Additionally, the Olorogun O’tega Emerhor-led Reconciliation Committee has submitted its report to Akpeki, with Deputy State Chairman Obigbor also in attendance.
In light of ongoing discussions among party members regarding Akpeki’s confirmation as Acting State Chairman during Sobotie’s medical leave, Onojeghuo emphasized the need to clarify the situation. He aims to dispel any misinterpretations or misinformation that could lead to unnecessary tension within the party ranks in Delta State.
