Crusoe Osagie, a media adviser to former Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, has launched a scathing critique of All Progressives Congress (APC) leader Adams Oshiomhole, accusing him of being consistently deceptive in various aspects of his life.
In a recent statement, Osagie suggested that Oshiomhole’s tendency for double-talk and his remarkable capacity to distort facts may indicate a deeper psychological issue. He referred to this condition as Mythomania, characterized by compulsive and pathological lying.
Osagie explained, “Those who suffer from this disorder often engage in habitual and impulsive deceit in multiple areas of their lives. What may start as a minor lie can develop into a chronic behavior pattern over time.”
He expressed concern that Oshiomhole seems unable to remember the falsehoods he has previously stated, resulting in contradictory claims. “If this behavior were seen in a younger individual, one might hope for maturity to bring about change. However, for Oshiomhole, it appears to be a futile endeavor.”
At 75 years old, Osagie remarked that Oshiomhole’s ease with lying suggests it is a weakness he will likely carry for the rest of his life.
Osagie elaborated that “Mythomania is a mental condition where individuals lie continuously and impulsively in all facets of their existence. This behavior can stem from a small, everyday fib, but escalate into a chronic issue.”
Highlighting Oshiomhole’s tendency to contradict himself, Osagie pointed to a notable incident during the 2020 governorship campaign. “Oshiomhole, who once labeled Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu a cultist, suddenly referred to him as a savior sent to rescue Edo State. The electorate saw through this deception and overwhelmingly supported Governor Obaseki, punishing Oshiomhole for his numerous lies.”
Furthermore, Osagie noted that Oshiomhole had previously acknowledged Obaseki’s significant contributions to his administration, stating that without Obaseki’s leadership, his government would have lacked direction. “Oshiomhole even claimed he chose Obaseki as his successor due to his selflessness.”
As Oshiomhole reverses his position once again, Osagie asserts that this reflects a near-pathological condition that prevents him from adhering to the truth. “When the truth becomes inconvenient, Oshiomhole resorts to alternative facts,” he stated.
Osagie criticized Oshiomhole’s recent performance on the Bush Radio Academy podcast, which he described as another example of his lying disorder that revealed a lack of sound reasoning. He questioned the legitimacy of Oshiomhole’s claims regarding the new governor’s achievements, pointing out that two weeks is insufficient time to evaluate performance.
“Was he referring to the opening of a boutique within the first 24 hours, or the flagging off of a road already completed by Obaseki? Or perhaps he meant the extravagant spending on bulletproof SUVs?” Osagie challenged, emphasizing that Oshiomhole should specify the projects he referenced.
Osagie praised Obaseki as arguably the finest governor in Edo State’s history, highlighting his transformative initiatives across various sectors, including infrastructure, education, and healthcare. “Obaseki’s leadership has set a new benchmark for governance in Nigeria,” he affirmed.
