Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has announced a generous N50 million endowment fund aimed at supporting the overall best graduating female student at Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU), located in Ikeji Arakeji, Osun State.
During the institution’s 15th convocation ceremony, she expressed that this contribution is part of her broader mission to empower young Nigerian girls, promoting their development and the future of the nation.
“In alignment with my vision to enhance educational opportunities for students, I am proud to donate Fifty Million Naira (N50,000,000.00) as an endowment fund for the top female graduate of JABU,” she declared.
Represented at the event by the Ekiti State First Lady, Dr. Mrs. Olayemi Oyebamiji, Senator Tinubu made her announcement following her own conferment of an Honorary Doctorate Degree. She praised the university and emphasized the vital role of education in fostering national development.
“Education serves as a fundamental cornerstone for both individual and national progress. I am truly honored by this recognition, which motivates me to continue my service to humanity and our country,” she stated.
Continuing her commitment to educational support, she revealed plans for the N50 million donation, which is intended to advance the university’s mission of academic excellence and innovation.
“I am excited to contribute this additional N50 million as an endowment fund specifically for Ayo Babalola University. This fund is designed to inspire and reward exceptional academic performance,” she noted.
The best graduating female student will be the inaugural recipient of this fund, highlighting her dedication to empowering women through education. Senator Tinubu expressed her confidence that the university administration will manage the fund responsibly for the benefit of both the students and the institution.
