Operatives of the Niger State Police Command have arrested an 18-year-old panel beater, Fatiyah Abdulhakeem, for the alleged murder of a former Permanent Secretary in the state, Adamu Jagaba.
The incident occurred on Saturday at Jagaba’s block moulding industry along Eastern Bye-Pass, Minna.
Details of the Incident
- Abdulhakeem reportedly stabbed Jagaba multiple times in the head and neck before fleeing with the victim’s car, a Toyota Camry (Reg. No. MNA 61 AE).
- Eyewitness Nuhu Abubakar disclosed that there was no argument between the two before the attack.
- Jagaba was rushed to a hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Police Investigation
The Spokesman for the Niger State Police Command, Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the arrest and revealed the suspect’s confession:
- Abdulhakeem admitted to conspiring with some of Jagaba’s workers, who provided insider information to facilitate the crime.
- He disclosed that he carried out similar crimes with other gang members, whose names he provided to the police.
- The suspect claimed the attack was premeditated, as he had discussed car repairs with the victim before the murder.
The stolen vehicle was intercepted hours later by the Police Crack Squad along Bosso Estate Road, Minna, leading to Abdulhakeem’s arrest.

Abiodun stated that efforts are ongoing to apprehend Abdulhakeem’s accomplices. The suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
