The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has expressed his support for the ongoing push to amend the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) to include the Nigerian Law School in its funding initiatives.
Wike made this announcement during the inauguration of a new housing complex consisting of 10 units for the Nigerian Law School in Bwari, Abuja, on Monday.
He emphasized that the amendment to the TETFund Act is long overdue, given the significant role the law school plays in advancing the legal profession in Nigeria.
“This institution is dedicated to professional training. Therefore, we are committed to ensuring that the Fund is amended so that the law school can access its special intervention funds,” he stated. “Once this amendment takes place, the impact will be evident, as the school will receive the necessary financial resources to develop essential infrastructure.”
Wike also urged for increased budget allocations for the Nigerian Law School to facilitate its infrastructural development and enhance the quality of its services.
He noted that the provision of staff accommodations and operational vehicles for the law school in Bwari was a directive from President Bola Tinubu.
He further explained that since the institution is owned by the Federal Government, it is only appropriate to provide the necessary infrastructure to elevate its standards.
