President Bola Tinubu has declared that Nigeria aims to become a leading nation in agricultural exports by the year 2025.
At the Road to South-South National Convergence event held at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja, Tinubu, represented by Abubakar Momoh, the Minister of Regional Development, introduced the innovative ‘Earn from the Soil’ initiative. This program seeks to transition subsistence farming into a robust, export-focused sector.
“This initiative signifies our commitment to harnessing our non-oil resources for the collective prosperity of all Nigerians,” he stated. “By the year 2025, Nigeria will emerge as a frontrunner in agricultural exports.”
The President highlighted that the initiative’s goal is to empower citizens to become key drivers of economic growth by elevating local agricultural methods into vital contributors to the global market.
He noted the South-South region’s abundant potential, emphasizing its wealth of natural resources and skilled individuals.
Tinubu urged for heightened investment in non-oil sectors to foster economic diversification and overall development. “The South-South is ready for business, just as the entirety of Nigeria opens its doors for commercial opportunities,” he affirmed. “We are establishing an ecosystem that promotes innovation, opportunity, and sustainable growth.”
Moreover, he stressed the importance of youth and women in the success of this initiative, stating, “Your energy, creativity, and determination will be the driving forces behind Nigeria’s economic transformation.”
Tinubu reassured Nigerians of his administration’s unwavering commitment to restoring hope and confidence, asserting that the ‘Earn from the Soil’ initiative is a pivotal step toward realizing that vision.
