Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has announced a ₦150,000 Christmas bonus for all civil servants in the state.
The governor made the declaration during a state banquet held in honor of the visiting British Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria, Gill Lever, at the Government House, Abakaliki.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Monday Uzor, Governor Nwifuru expressed gratitude to the workers for their dedication and understanding during the recent strike action.
He noted that their respect and cooperation with the government during challenging times were commendable and deserving of reward. He assured that the bonus would be paid before the close of work on Tuesday next week.
Earlier, Governor Nwifuru had met with the British Deputy High Commissioner at his office in Ochoudo Centenary City, Abakaliki. During the meeting, he sought British support in areas such as water supply, healthcare, power, education, and agriculture. He highlighted the state’s industrial and agricultural progress, emphasizing the revival of the Oferekpe Water Scheme and efforts to enhance rice production for export.
Gill Lever commended the developmental strides in Ebonyi State and reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with Nigeria. She expressed optimism about future collaborations to support the state’s growth.
