Vice President Kashim Shettima is set to leave Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, on Friday to represent President Bola Tinubu at the inauguration and naming ceremony of a $315 million oil production and storage facility in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
As announced by the presidency, this facility, owned entirely by a Nigerian company, Oriental Energy Limited, is scheduled to officially open on December 14, 2024.
Following the commissioning event in Dubai, the Vice President will travel to Saudi Arabia to perform the Lesser Hajj, known as Umrah, visiting the holy cities of Madinah and Makkah from December 16 to 19, 2024.
Additionally, on December 20, 2024, Vice President Shettima is slated to engage in a bilateral meeting with the President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) in Jeddah.
The agenda for this meeting will include discussions on co-financing arrangements for the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) Phase II and improving coordination on IsDB projects in Nigeria, all aimed at enhancing the country’s agricultural and economic growth.
He is expected to return to Nigeria on or before December 21, 2024.
