Senate President Godswill Akpabio has issued a playful warning to Senator Adams Oshiomhole, suggesting that he could face retirement at the hands of Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo if the latter returns to the Senate.
During a valedictory session held in honor of Okpebholo, Akpabio expressed his apprehensions regarding Oshiomhole’s political future.
In response to Akpabio’s concerns, Oshiomhole clarified that Okpebholo hails from a different senatorial district, specifically indicating that he previously represented the Edo Central Senatorial District before his gubernatorial election.
“Distinguished Senator Oshiomhole, before you stop, I thought he was from your senatorial district?” Akpabio inquired during the session.
“No, sir, he’s from Edo Central,” Oshiomhole clarified.
Akpabio continued, “Okay, otherwise he may retire you when he comes back.”
Oshiomhole lightheartedly replied, “By the time he’s coming back, I might already be retired, because if you add eight years to the current figure, I do not intend to do three terms here.”
