The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially expelled Ali Odefa, the suspended National Vice Chairman for the South-East, from the party. This decision was announced by his local party branch, the Oguduokwor Ward, located in the Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
Odefa’s suspension by the ward executives took place on September 11, 2024, due to allegations of engaging in actions considered harmful to the party’s interests.
On November 29, 2024, the Federal High Court in Abakaliki affirmed this suspension in its ruling related to case No: FHC/AI/CS/182/2024.
During a recent press conference, Acting Chairman of the PDP Oguduokwor Ward, Onyeka Herbert Ovuta, declared Odefa’s expulsion, stating that the decision was made following the disciplinary committee’s investigation, which confirmed his involvement in anti-party activities.
“The removal of Chief Ali Odefa is based on the findings and recommendations from the party’s Ward Disciplinary Committee, in accordance with our party constitution,” the ward chairman explained.
The statement released by the ward executives read: “The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Oguduokwor Ward, Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, hereby announces the expulsion of Chief Ali Odefa, who has been suspended as the National Vice Chairman of the South East Zone, effective immediately.
“This expulsion follows the report and conclusions of the party’s Ward Disciplinary Committee, aligning with party rules.
“Remember, Chief Ali Odefa was suspended from his position by the Ward leadership on September 11, 2024.
“Following the ruling of the Federal High Court in Abakaliki on suit number FHC/AI/CS/182/2024, which upheld the suspension of Chief Ali Odefa, the Disciplinary Committee of PDP Oguduokwor Ward convened and unanimously recommended his expulsion.
“On December 11, 2024, the Executive Committee of PDP Oguduokwor Ward received and approved the recommendations of the Disciplinary Committee, in compliance with sections 58(1) and 59(1) of the PDP constitution.
“Therefore, Chief Ali Odefa is no longer a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).”
