The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, led by Edwin Woko, has strongly criticized Abdullahi Ganduje, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), following his recent comments regarding the party’s aspirations to secure the Rivers State governorship in the 2027 elections.

During the inauguration of the new APC state executive, headed by Tony Okocha, in Port Harcourt on Saturday, Ganduje stated that winning the Government House in Rivers State is a primary goal for the APC in the upcoming election.

In reaction, Edwin Woko expressed confidence in Governor Sim Fubara’s campaign for a second term, asserting that the citizens of Rivers State will play a crucial role in ensuring his electoral success.

Woko emphasized that there is no opportunity for the APC in 2027, as the electorate has already dismissed the party’s unfavorable policies. He firmly stated that Rivers State will not tolerate any manipulative tactics in the forthcoming election or allow unidentified security personnel to interfere with the voting process.

“The people of Rivers State will spare no effort in making sure that Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s bid for a second term remains unimpeded,” he declared.

He continued, “The citizens have already rejected the APC and will persist in opposing its detrimental policies. Governor Fubara will indeed run for the 2027 election under the PDP banner, despite the challenges posed by factions within our party caused by certain opportunistic individuals. We believe these distractions will soon be a thing of the past.”

Woko further asserted that the democratic violations witnessed during the last gubernatorial election in Edo State will not be repeated in Rivers. He insisted that elections should be determined by the votes of the people, not through coercive tactics or the theft of citizens’ votes facilitated by unidentified security agents or any other form of manipulation that Ganduje’s APC may attempt.
