The Uyo Local Government Legislative Council has passed the 2025 appropriation estimate of N9.608 billion, paving the way for a new era of growth, development, and prosperity for the local government.

The budget, which was presented by the Local Government Chairman, Dr. Uwemedimo Udo was approved after thorough deliberations and considerations by members of the 8th Uyo Legislative Council, led by Hon. Ekemini Bassey on Monday, December 30, 2024.

The budget highlights include allocations of N4,627,147,700 for the economic sector, N1,786,424,400 for education, N1,014,025,000 for healthcare, N199,227,900 for the social sector, N1,839,802,860 for administration, and N141,372,140 for agriculture.

The passage of the budget is a significant achievement for the Legislative Council as it continues the excellent tradition of ensuring that Finance Bill is passed before the commencement of the fiscal year in order to meet the needs and aspirations of the local government.

“We are thrilled to have passed a budget that truly reflects the priorities of our local government,” said the Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Ekemini Bassey.

“This budget is a proof of our commitment to transparent and accountable governance, and we are confident that it will drive growth, prosperity, and improved quality of life for all the indigenes and residents of Uyo.”

He also assured that the progress of the budget which will be sent to the Executive Chairman, Uyo Local Government Area for implementation will be monitored by the Legislative Council to ensure that it is being executed effectively.
