The Progressive Frontliners (TPF), a faction within the All Progressive Congress (APC), has called on the party’s leadership to permit the Osun West Senatorial District to field a candidate for the upcoming 2026 governorship election.
During a press conference held in Osogbo on Friday, the group argued that this move would significantly boost the APC’s chances of securing victory in the forthcoming election.
Mr. Ajijola Ayodeji, the group’s Coordinator, stated that their request aims to rectify the current imbalance in gubernatorial representation within the state and to attract more members to the party.
“By granting the party ticket to Osun West this time, we would address this imbalance and foster inclusivity,” Ayodeji explained.
“It would also empower Osun West to take an active role in the development of our state alongside other districts.”
He further added, “From an electoral strategy perspective, zoning the candidacy to Osun West will energize our support base, inspiring both party loyalists and local communities.”
“This decision would signal that the APC acknowledges and values every region within the state equally, thereby galvanizing widespread support and enthusiasm essential for a successful electoral outcome,” he noted.
Ayodeji also highlighted that leaders from Osun West consistently contribute diverse viewpoints and ideas that enhance the party’s policies and programs, promoting innovation and growth.
“Osun West is home to individuals with exemplary leadership skills, integrity, and commitment, who have established their capabilities across various roles,” he remarked.
“This reservoir of talent is primed to deliver fresh and dynamic leadership that can engage both grassroots supporters and intellectuals in our party,” Ayodeji added.
He concluded by stating that allocating the party ticket to Osun West aligns with the APC’s core vision of promoting fairness, unity, and national integration.
“It would resonate well with the wider electorate, reflecting our dedication to equitable development and inclusive participation across all regions,” he emphasized.
