Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has labeled the allegations made by Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the opposition Labour Party (LP), regarding threats to his life as “unfortunate, misleading, and outright falsehood.”

In a statement issued from Abuja, Ganduje dismissed Obi’s claims as “sheer mischief” and a “malicious lie” designed to elicit public sympathy and portray himself as a victim. He acknowledged that while such accusations might have been overlooked, it was crucial to counter the narrative to prevent the spread of misinformation.

Ganduje expressed his disappointment over the allegations, which were publicized on Obi’s verified X account. He accused the LP candidate of distorting comments made by APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka during an interview on Arise TV on January 4, 2025.

“At no time did Morka threaten Obi or his family. By falsely asserting that Morka issued threats, Mr. Obi has incited his supporters to direct death threats at Morka and his family, which is both dangerous and unjustified,” Ganduje stated.

The APC Chairman criticized Obi for disseminating false information, underscoring the responsibility of public figures to ensure the accuracy of their statements.

He further emphasized that misleading narratives erode public trust and undermine democratic principles.
