Governor Seyi Makinde has put to rest rumors regarding his potential candidacy for the 2027 presidential election, reaffirming that his primary commitment lies in fulfilling the responsibilities entrusted to him by the citizens of Oyo State.
In an interview, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member addressed the speculation surrounding his interest in vying for the presidential ticket, particularly in the context of a possible challenge against President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Makinde made it clear that his current focus is entirely on his role as governor, stating, “The significant work that the people of Oyo State have entrusted to me is my priority. While I have made progress, there is still much more to accomplish.”
He further emphasized that he has no intentions of pursuing a presidential bid in 2027, asserting, “My attention is not on becoming president in 2027; rather, it is on delivering the mandate given to me by the people of Oyo State.”
