The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has defended its proposed allocation of N1.1 billion for staff feeding in its 2025 budget, citing its commitment to workforce efficiency and operational needs. Appearing before the Joint Committee of the Senate and House of Representatives on Finance, JAMB explained that the budget will provide a daily meal for its 2,300 staff members nationwide, including cleaners and security personnel.

JAMB stated that the initiative minimizes distractions and protects ICT infrastructure by reducing staff movement during work hours. While the total cost for the year is estimated at N1.27 billion, JAMB emphasized its prudence in budgeting N1.1 billion, funded entirely through its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).The Board assured stakeholders of transparency and financial responsibility, emphasizing that the expenditure addresses rising food prices and staff welfare without drawing from government allocations.
