Chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, Turki Alalshikh, has opened up on what could happen concerning Anthony Joshua’s upcoming opponents in the boxing ring.
In his last fight in March, Joshua displayed his dominance by delivering a powerful knockout to Francis Ngannou in the second round.
The event took place in Saudi Arabia, leaving fans eager to know who Joshua would face next.
Recently, the 34-year-old revealed that his next bout could possibly occur on September 20 or 21 at London’s iconic Wembley Stadium.
Fans have continued to anticipate the announcement of Joshua’s next challengers.
Alalshikh has revealed more on what could happen concerning Joshua’s next match, he indicated that Joshua will square off against the winner of the Daniel Dubois versus Filip Hrgovic fight. This particular matchup is scheduled for June 1.
Alalshikh has ruled out the possibility of Joshua facing the winner of the Deontay Wilder versus Zhilei Zhang fight, as Wilder has been locked in to face Jared Anderson on the same card in Los Angeles.
“We have Joshua’s fight in September, and it all depends on the result of the Hrgovic fight with Dubois,” said Alalshikh during an interview on the MMA Hour.
It’s worth noting that a two-way rematch clause exists between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, allowing the loser to trigger a second bout.
Joshua, having already suffered two defeats against Usyk, is unlikely to be granted another opportunity to face the Ukrainian.
As a result, there is some speculation that Joshua may secretly hope for his fellow Brit, Fury, to win the highly anticipated showdown in Saudi Arabia this weekend.
However, Joshua himself expressed his belief that Usyk would emerge victorious during a prediction he made last month.
The anticipation builds as fans await the outcome of this massive clash in the heavyweight division.
