Three Chibok girls who escaped from Boko Haram and pursued their education at the American University of Nigeria (AUN) were among the 189 students who graduated with first degrees on Saturday.
During the university’s 15th Commencement ceremony held at the main campus in Yola, the President (Vice Chancellor) of the University, Dwayne Frazier, urged the graduates to adhere to the institution’s principles.
He emphasized that the university equips students to tackle future challenges.

“I have no doubt that you will excel because you have all shown resilience, determination, and commitment.
These qualities will propel you to achieve the best and contribute to the country’s development,” Frazier stated.
Guest speaker Professor Mike Ozekhome highlighted the university’s global impact in his address.
“With the entrepreneurship education and training you have received here at AUN, you can create jobs for yourselves,” he encouraged the graduates.
Eight students received PhDs, ten earned MSc degrees, and 189 were awarded first degrees.
Ozekhome was conferred with a Doctor of Letters degree in recognition of his efforts in promoting peace, human rights, the rule of law, and good governance in Nigeria.
