On Saturday, chaos erupted at Banex Plaza phone market in Wuse 2, Abuja, as soldiers and traders clashed over the sale of a defective phone.
A trader mentioned that soldiers were attacked following a dispute with some individuals at the market.
“I am not currently in the market but I called my boys at the shop and they told me there was a disagreement between some boy and soldiers,” the trader explained.

A video of the incident where a group of young men were arguing with two soldiers was reported.
The young men eventually formed smaller groups and aggressively targeted their adversaries.
In the video, a man in civilian clothing was also attacked, though it is unclear if he was a soldier.
Another video showed traders locking up their shops, fearing a potential reprisal from the soldiers.
At the time of reporting, military authorities had not yet commented on the incident.
However, PararallelFact reported that SP Josephine Adeh, spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, confirmed that Commissioner of Police, Benett Igweh, had dispatched officers from the FCT Intelligence Response Team to the scene.
“The CP has deployed the Intelligence Response Team to the scene,” Adeh confirmed.
