Dr. Fola David, a Nigerian doctor, and artist, has revealed his intentions to set a new world record for the largest drawing by an individual, named “Unity in Diversity”.
Leading up to the big drawing event that will take place for up to six days starting on July 16, David mentioned that he’ll be revealing ‘the road to record’ where he’ll draw inspiration for this epic drawing.
He mentioned that the drawing set to take place at Onikan Stadium in Lagos will be massive, and will span over 850m2. The incredible artwork will portray Nigeria’s various tribes through their distinct clothing, languages, art, and cultural heritage. It’s going to be a vibrant and meaningful representation of diversity.
He mentioned that the ‘Unity in Diversity’ project will be done in collaboration with Tolaram Group to showcase Nigeria’s rich cultural diversity through a captivating experience involving visual art, documentaries, and cultural festivities.
David elaborated in his statement that the Unity in Diversity Project consists of three main phases: the Road to Record, the World Record Attempt, and the RepYourTribe Carnival.
He also disclosed that the cultural odyssey filming will document an enchanting journey through different Nigerian states which will serve as the foundation for the world record drawing and a documentary named the ‘Road to Record’.
Furthermore, he mentioned that the ‘RepYourTribe Carnival’ will lively celebrate diverse cultures. Every Nigerian is encouraged to proudly display their tribe by using the hashtag #repyourtribe on all online platforms. There will be a festive carnival at the Stadium grounds, coinciding with the creation of the world record drawing. It will be a digital and physical extravaganza, honoring Nigeria’s rich cultural tapestry!
