The Joint Task Force North East (NE) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) from the Headquarters Theatre Command has transferred 350 rescued civilians to the Borno State Government.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations at the Headquarters Theatre Command, Captain Reuben Konvangiya, noted that the rescued individuals included six adult males, 135 females, and 209 children.

He further explained that these individuals were rescued during clearance and offensive operations by OPHK troops in the Sambisa forest.

He added, “In his remarks, the Deputy Theatre Commander Major General Kenneth Chigbu, who represented the Theatre Commander, praised the troops for their professionalism and appreciated international and local partners, as well as the Borno State Government, for their support to military operations in the North East.”

He, however, revealed that the event marked another significant milestone achieved by the JTF NE OPHK under the leadership of the Theatre Commander, Major General Waidi Shaibu.

“This rescue adds to the 44 persons recently handed over to the Borno State Government by OPHK, demonstrating the military’s commitment to protecting civilians and defeating terrorism in the region,” he noted.

Meanwhile, Hajjiya Y’arbauchi, the Director of Social Welfare at the Ministry of Women Affairs in Borno State, expressed gratitude to the military for their coordinated efforts.

She announced that the rescued individuals would be taken to Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camps for profiling, medical checks, and skill acquisition training before being reunited with their families.
