On Wednesday,The police revealed that divers were working to recover the body of a 30-year-old man who allegedly drowned at Elegushi Beach in Lagos while there for prayers.

Lagos Police Command spokesperson, informed the News Agency of Nigeria that the man, identified only as Samuel, had visited the beach with his friends for a prayer session.

The incident was reported to the Ilasan Police Division at approximately 7:20 a.m. on Tuesday by an unnamed individual.

According to the report, Samuel and his three friends had traveled from Igbesan in Ogun to Elegushi Beach in Lekki for prayers around midnight. During the prayer session, around 4:00 a.m., Samuel allegedly drowned.

“Detectives from the division promptly visited the scene, and efforts are ongoing by divers to recover the body. The deceased’s family has been contacted, and the investigation is continuing,” Hundeyin stated.
